OLD PERITHIA

Old Perithia is an enchanting village high up in the mountains. It was built in the 14th century by Byzantines who, seeking a refuge from pirates, fled their fishing villages by the sea and found a perfect discreet hideaway. In the 20th century, with the development of sea/beach tourism, the trend was reversed and the village was left abandoned. At its height there were 130 houses, built in Venetian style surrounded by 8 churches.

These days the village has special 'Heritage Protected" status and is home to several family-run tavernas. If you find yourself in the Old Perithia Taverna ask for their home-made ginger beer -delicious!

BOAT HIRE

It is easy to book a boat hire for a day in St Stefanos. There are two companies - San Stefano Boats and Sotiris Boat Hire.
